Uncle Fatlips

According to TechCrunch, a polling application on Facebook asked users if they liked the new design or not. The survey yielded over 800,000 responses–most of whom which responded with a HELL NO. I must admit I’ve seen quite a bit of resistance this time around in regards to Facebook’s most recent facelift. Lots of whining. Enough for me to update my profile with “shut the hell up.” To tell the truth, it doesn’t really bother me all that much. I get what Facebook is trying to do. It’s attempting to Twitterize the thing. Whateva. I love Twitter but it ain’t all that. No need to redesign a perfectly good interface for the sake of keepin’ up with the Joneses.

But they did anyway. And now a lot of folks are plenty unhappy. If I had to pick an aspect of the new design that I’m not highly appreciative of is the inability to make disappear the postings of a connection. I post a lot. So my feelings would never be hurt if a good number of my FB connections had me turned down to nuthin.’ Uncle Fatlips never wants to be where he’s not wanted. But Facebook removed that feature; now whether you want to see others postings or not you’re gonna see them—all of them. I don’t think they should’ve changed that aspect of things. Once again, Facebook is not Twitter.

Other than that, I got no gripes. And I got no gripes cause it’s FREE. That’s right whiners. The damn thing is FREE. If you hate it so much then create your own damn social network. My Gawd, what the hell did you do before there was a Facebook? You had Myspace, that’s what. They haven’t changed much over there. Still the same big ol’ online ghetto that it always was.  But for music it cannot be surpassed. Anyway, I digress.
